Roland Schimmelfenning is one of the most prolific, successful and most translated German authors. Due to the thematic relevance of "Firm" (Push Up 1-3), the author bravely makes a vivisection of capitalist society and the consequences that come as a result of such a system. He foregrounds the unscrupulous struggle of the individual who strives to climb to the top of the hierarchical pyramid, as well as the problem of loneliness and alienation that are a reflection of such a capitalist arrangement. The entire action takes place in an IT corporation. In this "frightening" environment, the characters compete with each other for a higher position in the company. The mechanisms to reach the top are unscrupulous, the characters use verbal manipulation and hypocrisy to grab what they want. Dedicated to winning these battles, they remain without a social life, locked in their large empty apartments, associative of their spiritual and social emptiness.
