A family reunion that lasts a day – and leaves traces for a lifetime. After twelve years, Louis returns home. He comes for a reason that is not easy to say, and perhaps cannot be said at all. Around him – his mother, brother, sister and daughter-in-law – all ready to talk, but each trapped in his own way of loving, caring and defending. Words collide, silences become louder than shouts, and time keeps slipping forward and waits for no one.
In this meticulously written and dynamic dramatic score, everyday conversations turn into scenes of intimacy, misunderstanding, and tenderness. "This is Only the End of the World," based on the play of the same name by author Jean-Luc Lagarce, is a play about family as the most intense space of love and conflict, about the moments when we want to say everything but say too little, and about those encounters that seem ordinary – until we realize that nothing will ever be the same again.
