Bullets over Broadway

"Bullets Over Broadway", or a story about moral and real "murders" behind the scenes, is a dramaturgical treatment and adaptation by Nenad Vitanov of the famous film "Bullets Over Broadway", written by the brilliant Woody Allen and Douglas McGrath. The film was nominated in seven categories for the "Oscar" award, including for best screenplay.
The film's huge success in cinemas inspired the creation of several adaptations for the theater, some of which even surpassed the popularity of the original work. Characteristic of Woody Allen's works is that through entertainment they bring comedy to the deepest philosophical themes. Often, through the prism of irony and cynicism, mixed with autobiographical neurosis, Woody Allen presents his own point of view on certain topics.
This play explores the morality of a young artist, inspired by Nietzschean morality, where the will to create a work of art does not recognize compromises and conventional limitations. From the very beginning, a group of artists, in their meetings and endless conversations about art, ask the key question: "In a burning building, can you save only one thing – an ordinary human being or the only copy of the collected works of Shakespeare?"
In the brief description of the play's content, the main character is David, a young idealistic playwright who has recently entered the "big business" of creating plays. He is desperately trying to find a theater that will produce his latest play. The director of the theater, where he staged his latest play with poor success with critics and audiences, receives an unexpected call from the local mafia boss. Namely, the mafia boss Nicky wants to finance the play, but he has only one condition - that his girlfriend and former stripper, Olivia, get the title role. David makes a Faustian pact - he sells his soul for his work, in order to live on it.
